Australian Visa Options for Parents

Family is incredibly important, especially in times when we want to share our lives and special moments with our loved ones. If you’re a new migrant in Australia, you may wish to have your parents close by to celebrate milestones and enjoy family life together. Bringing your parents to Australia involves navigating a range of visa options, each with its own requirements and processes.

Available Parent Visas:

  • Parent Visa (Subclass 103): This permanent visa allows parents to live in Australia with their children. Processing times can be lengthy due to high demand.
  • Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143): A faster option than the Parent Visa, this permanent visa requires a higher financial contribution but offers quicker processing.
  • Temporary Sponsored Parent Visa (Subclass 870): This visa allows parents to stay in Australia temporarily for up to 5 years. It is ideal for short-term visits and has an option for extension.
  • Contributory Temporary Parent Visa (Subclass 173): This temporary visa allows parents to live in Australia for up to 2 years, with the option to apply for a Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143) later.
  • Parent Visa (Subclass 804): This is a permanent visa for parents who are already in Australia. It allows parents to stay in Australia indefinitely but can take several years to process.
  • Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 864): This is a permanent visa for parents already in Australia, similar to the Subclass 804 but with a faster processing time due to the higher contribution requirement.
